WHAT I ATE IN A DAY | WORKING FROM HOME | STILL BREASTFEEDING

I haven’t posted a What I Ate in a Day post for a while – this is a normal day at home for me. I work 4 days a week and have been working from home for those days since I started back at work last September. I will be going back in to the office one day a week starting this week. I am still breastfeeding my 13 month old baby two times a day, but the following is a normal day of eating while working from home – and no kids around!

Breakfast 8.55am:
My day actually started at 6am and I had a coffee first thing (Nespresso – my favourite at the moment is the India flavour). Then once the two little ones had left for the day to daycare and I started work at 8, then Neve was off to school, I finally got around to having breakfast near 9am – I usually eat a bit earlier then this, so I was very hungry! It was just a bowl of Special K cereal with 1/2 a banana and some milk. I also started on my first 900ml bottle of water.

Lunch 12 noon:

This lunch might seem a little random given we are still in Summer, and it is very warm here at the moment! But I have had a craving for soup lately (#notpregnant)! So I satisfied that today with this yummy bowl of vegetable soup and some corn and beetroot tortilla chips – also sounds random, but they are so good! I grated a little bit of Edam cheese on top, and used the tortilla chips as a dipper. It’s hard to make a bowl of soup look appetizing in a photo, but I can promise you this was very yummy and filling.

Afternoon Tea : 2.10pm

I wasn’t actually that hungry at this point, but I really wanted a coffee, and I sometimes get a bit shaky after my second coffee if I don’t have food with it. So I had this little snack of grapes and pretzels, along with another nespresso coffee.

Dinner Time : 6.10pm

I was solo parenting tonight as my husband was out playing cricket. It’s always a bit stressful with the three kids home and on your own, the kids are always tired after daycare and school (especially Connor), so I try and have something that is relatively quick and easy to cook and clean up on a Wednesday while the hubby is out. We use My Food Bag, which is a delivery service where you get a box full of fresh ingredients, along with recipe cards for you to cook your meals, we get a box that serves the family for 5 nights. Tonight was a Ginger Soy Chicken & Veggie Stir Fry with Brown Rice. It was really good, and full of veges – broccoli, red capsicum, onion, garlic, carrot, and it was served with chicken breast, brown rice, a nice ginger soy sauce and some toppings of coriander, roasted peanuts, crispy shallots and sesame seeds. Really tasty!

Dessert : 8.45pm

Once all the kids were finally in bed, and I had cleaned up and chilled out for a bit, I had a little dessert which was some Whittaker’s (the best) Hokey Pokey Chocolate with a peppermint tea, and my usual vitamins that I take every night – LifeMum Post Pregnancy Multi, Ethical Nutrients Healthy Hair Skin & Nails, and Adashiko Ultra Collagen powder – I swear by these for healthy hair growth after postpartum loss!
